Property and Travel Fees: What You Need to Know When Booking Your Session

Tips

When booking a photography session, you may come across two additional costs: travel and property fees. These fees help ensure that your session runs smoothly while covering necessary expenses. Understanding these costs upfront can help avoid surprises and allow you to plan accordingly.

What Is a Property Fee?

A property fee is a charge required to use a specific location for your photoshoot. Some locations—such as farms, private estates, and special venues—require photographers to pay a fee for access. This cost is separate from your session fee and is set by the property owner, not the photographer.

If you have a particular place in mind for your session, it’s important to check whether it requires a property fee. Many beautiful locations, such as botanical gardens, ranches, and historic sites, require permits or rental fees to use their space for photography. If that’s the case, I will help handle the process in booking the location.

What Is a Travel Fee?

A travel fee covers my costs for getting to and from your session location. This includes gas, vehicle maintenance, and time spent traveling.

For sessions within Tucson and nearby areas, travel fees may be minimal or included in your session price. However, if your location is further away, a travel fee helps compensate for the additional expenses and time required.

If the location is more than four hours away from Tucson, the travel fee may also cover accommodations such as a hotel stay, flights and meals, ensuring I’m well-rested and prepared to capture your session at its best.
