3 Photo Session Locations That Don’t Feel Like Tucson

Locations

Jun 7, 2023

I love the desert landscapes of Tucson, but I know that not everyone wants to have a desert backdrop to their photos. Sometimes, it’s really fun to switch things up a little bit! Here are some enchanting photo session locations within an hour’s drive from Tucson that transport you into a fairytale.

Catalina State Park

Nestled in the rugged Catalina Mountains, Catalina State Park offers a mesmerizing blend of desert and greenery. While you will see touches of the desert, it comes alive after a good rain. The trails transform completely from a desert landscape to lush greenery, and I’m all here for it!

The sight of vibrant grass, swaying trees, and breathtaking mountain views create an otherworldly experience that we don’t get often here in Tucson. Catalina State Park provides an enchanting escape from the desert heat, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in nature’s embrace.

Tohono Chul Park

Tohono Chul Park is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the desert. It offers a delightful respite from Tucson’s hustle and bustle while showcasing elements of Arizona’s greenest nature.

This charming garden surprises visitors with stone walls, entwining vines, and whimsical gates that transport you to a fairytale realm. Wander through shaded pathways adorned with vibrant flowers, meandering streams, and tranquil ponds.

The park’s carefully curated foliage provides a refreshing coolness during the warmer months, inviting you to relax and savor the serene ambiance. At Tohono Chul Park, discover hidden nooks, decorative sculptures, and secret garden vibes that make you lose yourself in your photo session.

Madera Canyon

The scenic drive to Madera Canyon is bound to get you excited for your session! Since it’s about an hour south of Tucson, this canyon is definitely one of my favorites if you’re looking for a change of scenery. While the towering trees and flowing river are gorgeous year-round, this location particularly shines during the fall.

Madera Canyon is also a great option if you don’t want to roast. With the tall trees and the river, there is plenty of shade, and it tends to be a lot cooler than other locations. Why not give it a try for your next session?

Honorable Mention: Life Under the Oaks Lavender Farm

If you’re booking in late May and early June, don’t miss Life Under the Oaks Lavender Farm. Located near Tucson, this charming farm hosts year-round events that are sure to delight visitors. The lavender blooming season only lasts a short period of time, but it’s totally worth it.

I love watching my clients bask in the breathtaking fragrance of lavender during their photo sessions. We always capture unforgettable photos, and I look forward to the season every year.
