Being a photographer means that I get to have all sorts of awesome adventures! This family session at Honey Bee Canyon was the very best kind. The day was forming up to be gorgeous, so I couldn’t wait to get my camera out!

Originally, we were supposed to go to Catalina State Park, but when I got there, it started sprinkling. “No worries,” I thought to myself, knowing that a little rain wouldn’t be a deal breaker.

But by the time Timothy, Katie, and Emma got there, it was raining cats and dogs! A full-on storm had decided to pour down on our session, and it didn’t look like it was going to let up any time soon.

I gave them a couple options. We could reschedule, or we could try another location. Since Honey Bee Canyon was only about a twelve-minute drive away, we decided to try there.

Tim and Katie were the sweetest! They were more than willing to change locations. Catalina State Park is known for its greenery and mountains, and Honey Bee Canyon is a mountainous desert. While it wasn’t what they were originally shooting for, mother nature had amazing plans ahead.

Sure enough, the storm had dwindled to a light sprinkle, and even better: the canyon was dancing with rainbows! My jaw dropped at the fantastic images we were able to create.

Tim, Katie, and Emma brought their two rescue puppies, Luna and Sol. I can see why they called them lab huskies! The dogs were so energetic and excited to be in a new place. Fortunately, Tim brought his dad and stepmom to help!

It was so much fun getting to know them during our session. I learned that Tim is a fire fighter. How cool is that! He’s a goofy guy with a big heart, and an awesome soon-to-be stepdad to Emma, who loves everything dinosaur and unicorn.

I felt like Katie and I were instant friends! She’s such a bubbly person, the kind that always brings smiles wherever she goes.
