Taytum’s Senior Session at Madera Canyon

Senior Sessions

Jan 25, 2023

Taytum’s senior session at Madera Canyon was one for the books! It wasn’t the smoothest session because of a few challenges, but I was so relieved that we were able to overcome them. In the end, we got several stunning images that Taytum and her family can cherish forever!

We were unsure if the session would even happen due to the forecast of rain. However, there are plenty of ways to make rain an integral part of the session, so we decided to push forward!

As we made our way to the canyon, the fog had already rolled in and it was starting to sprinkle. I knew we’d have to work fast to get the shots we wanted, but we couldn’t rush the drive.

On a previous trip to Madera Canyon, I hit a pothole and dented not one, but two of my rims. So today, I drove at a snail’s pace to where Taytum and I agreed to meet, with no mishaps.

Once Taytum and her sister arrived, we picked up the pace. Our main priority was to get a headshot for Taytum’s yearbook photo. The deadline was approaching soon, and we didn’t have the opportunity to reschedule.

Despite the rain, we were able to capture a bunch of great shots. Taytum was a natural in front of the camera and the rain didn’t seem to bother her at all! She modeled a super cute pair of cowgirl boots and used that side walk like a runway!

One of the highlights of the session was when a deer tried to photobomb us! Unfortunately, a passing truck scared it away before we could catch it in the background.

We did, however, have a clear umbrella on hand, which made for a cute prop. As the rain started to come down harder, we knew it was time to call it a day, so we headed back before the roads became too unsafe to drive.

I can’t wait for the second half of Taytum’s session, which will feature a dress from Ava Gowns. We both got sick and had to reschedule, but hopefully soon we’ll be able to capture some amazing shots in the dress.

Despite the challenges we faced, the results of this senior session at Madera Canyon are stunning! Taytum and her family will love these photos for a long time, that I know for sure. Thanks for choosing me as your senior photographer, Taytum! It was an honor.

Let's Connect!

I can't wait to hear more about the memories you're looking to capture.
